"In Shamanic Astrology the Rising sign represents the tribe that we are called to in the lifetime. I am called to the Libran tribe, the tribe that is all about perfect and equal partnership. The Moon sign represents the tribe that we have come from. I have a Taurus Moon, this is the tribe of the aristocrat, the courtesan. I had spent lifetimes playing the courtesan and enjoying the pleasures of decadent human living, it made sense that I feared a 'love relationship' would take me away from my spiritual quest, for these were very Earthy experiences that I had lived in my previous experiences with love and it would have been easy to get lost in once again. However I was moving away from a courtesan experience of lovemaking and into an equally partnered one, one that would serve my life purpose.
The Sun sign in Shamanic Astrology is the sign that fuels you, it is the energy that makes you go, however the Venus and Mars are equally as important in helping us to define who we are as astrological beings.
The following is a shortened version of the list of archetypes and is quoted from Daniel Giamario:
ARIES: The Virgin Amazon
TAURUS: The Lover
GEMINI: The Divine Comedienne
CANCER: The Great Mother
LEO: The Queen
VIRGO: The Priestess
LIBRA: The Beloved
SCORPIO: The Sorceress
SAGITTARIUS: The Adventurer
CAPRICORN: The Matriarch
AQUARIUS: The Visionary
PISCES: The Selfless Servant"
I have to say: totally liking the idea of a sorceress being my tribe. Hah.
I decided to look at an eclipse table and see if any eclipses lined up with significant years for me.
1996 (started dating): Apr 3, 1996 7:07 PM Sun 14 Ari 31 Opposition Moon 14 Lib 31(LE). That one literally kicked off within a few weeks of my dating life starting at age 18, hah. On my Mercury/Pluto/nodes.
1997 (dad got diagnosed with a disease, I graduated high school and went on to college): nothing hitting anything significant on me. Probably hitting on my parents' though because the big thing then was Virgo and Pisces. I don't have any of that, but that's their ascendants/descendants.
1998 (significant relationship): Aug 21, 1998 10:03 PM Sun 28 Leo 48 Conjunct Moon 28 Leo 48(SE)--near my Saturn. Relationship kicked off a few months later and was a very Saturn Return-y (for him) one and me (Saturn transiting 7th).
1999 (relationship ended, started working):
Near to my Mars and Saturn in Leo. Both the relationship ending and the job starting were in fall.
2001 (graduated from college, lost job): June 21, 2001 7:58 AM Sun 0 Can 11 Conjunct Moon 0 Can 11(SE)--hitting around my Jupiter in Cancer. Not that lucky? Graduation happened right before that, got laid off around the end of the year. Around the beginning of 2002 I got another job and relationship at the same time.
June 24, 2002 5:42 PM Sun 3 Can 11 Opposition Moon 3 Cap 11(LE)
I don't think this one really is ah, responsible for any of that, but I should probably mention it. Hits around Jupiter again.
Around the start of 2004, the relationship ended:
May 15, 2003 11:36 PM Sun 24 Tau 53 Opposition Moon 24 Sco 53(LE)
Nov 8, 2003 8:13 PM Sun 16 Sco 13 Opposition Moon 16 Tau 13(LE)
Nov 23, 2003 5:59 PM Sun 1 Sag 14 Conjunct Moon 1 Sag 14(SE)
Around my Venus for the first one, Uranus for the second one and my moon again on the third.
In the later end of 2004, I had wisdom teeth surgery and a flooded apartment that I had to vacate for several months:
May 4, 2004 4:33 PM Sun 14 Tau 42 Opposition Moon 14 Sco 42(LE)
This one was on Uranus.
Oct 27, 2004 11:07 PM Sun 5 Sco 02 Opposition Moon 5 Tau 02(LE)
In the vicinity of my ascendant--this one went on during the apartment/tooth drama time.
In 2005, my dad went into the hospital for the rest of his life.
Apr 24, 2005 6:06 AM Sun 4 Tau 20 Opposition Moon 4 Sco 20(LE)
2007: dad dies, no significant eclipse action going on for me then. Go figure. But again, it was a Pisces/Virgo time going on and that hits my parents more than me.
2012: I have both temporary and permanent job changes going on:
Nov 25, 2011 1:09 AM Sun 2 Sag 37 Conjunct Moon 2 Sag 37(SE)
June 4, 2012 7:11 AM Sun 14 Gem 14 Opposition Moon 14 Sag 14(LE)
Moon and Neptune.
2013: birthday eclipse again around ascendant:
Apr 25, 2013 3:57 PM Sun 5 Tau 45 Opposition Moon 5 Sco 45(LE)
I get way disillusioned and eventually get a car a few months later.
And in October will be...
Oct 8, 2014 6:50 AM Sun 15 Lib 05 Opposition Moon 15 Ari 05(LE)
Oct 23, 2014 5:56 PM Sun 0 Sco 25 Conjunct Moon 0 Sco 25(SE)
Mercury/Pluto/nodes and asccendant/Sun. I wonder what shit that brings on?
Now to be fair, let's look at years where eclipses hit my planets but nothing I remember as being significant happened: 1995 had Uranus and Sun/Ascendant, 2000 had a hit on Mars, 2008 and 2009 had hits on Mars and Saturn, 2010 had a hit on Jupiter, 2011 had a hit on Moon. But now I'm kinda wondering if I just don't remember anything specific. I know a hell of a lot of Teh Dramaz was going on at work from 2008 on, but none of it started to screw with me until around 2011-2012.
Now let's categorize by planet and drama:
Sun/Ascendant: surgery and flooding, dad going into hospital, basically giant emotional drama, car buying: So....not good, overall.
Moon and Venus: dating, probably foreshadowing relationship ending.
Uranus: dating, flood, surgery--not good.
Mercury/Pluto/Nodes: dating, on a good scale.
Saturn: dating and work, but not consistently identifable drama. Plusses and minuses.
Mars: dating and work, but not consistently identifiable drama.
Jupiter: job, dating, but not consistently identifiable drama. Started out good for what I could identify.
The Sun is the giver of life.
It represents your inner core,
your constant striving
to be better and more successful,
fulfilled and happy in your life.
When all else fails,
when the chips are down,
when it looks as if
the fat lady is singing
and the curtain is about to come down,
always turn to the Sun.
Go back to your whole sign house.
If you dont know your Rising Sign
just go back to the
sign of the Sun.
It will help you
remember who you are
.It's your core,
the part of you
that is stronger
It’s the simplest, quickest,
most effective way
to rediscover your center,
focus and refind your strength.
In these crazy times,
it is surely going to seem
almost impossible to deal
with everything you have to deal with.
This remedy will be effective.
Obviously we are painting this picture
with a wide brush,
mainly because house systems vary
and because sign and house definitions
are not exactly identical.
Read your SUN by Sign.
Then, there's a tricky little
exercise that will help you find your core.
You have to know your Rising Sign, however.
If you don't just stick with the Sun.
If you know you’re Rising Sign,
read the SUN by House,
To do that You can go back and
scan through all the signs
till you find the
alloted to you .
It may be a bit confusing
the message will seem to be
for another Sign.
Pay that no mind.
Just read the number
designated for your
your Sun position
by whole sign house.
It's your total core
to go back to
whenever you need
which will denote
your whole sign house.
read the passage
associated with that number.
designated by a number
beside your rising sign.
Although this method
utilizes the whole sign system,
it will in this instance never fail
you when you need it.
Of course the trick is
combining and integrating them,
but that’s your job.
OR WHOLE SIGN HOUSE NUMBER 7
The incrediblly complicated
pretzel you have to twist
just to get others
to do what you want them to do
without either their knowing it,
or their thinking that you’re
pushy and manipulative
and want everything your own way.
If people only knew the torture
you put yourself through
to find some way to understan
d the needs of your partners, adversaries
and everybody else in the world,
and still somehow be satisfied with yourself.
Pushing your wishes or point of view
feels totally unnatural or wrong,
and usually ends up backfiring against you.
Your strength comes in your ability
to find justice in all situations,
even despite the most byzantine
and complicated circumstances.
Your strength now will come
just this sort of dance,
mainly because you know that
aggressors are always out there
to eat you up
or retaliate when you act out.
Dealing with your own anger,
out-thinking everybody else,
playing the game for all its worth,
without tipping your hand
or drawing everybody
into an all out war–
that is the challenge at hand.
Your point of inspiration:
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...well, apparently not.
I was pleased to see that John Mayer finally got to release his album (really nice steampunk cover on it too, that's like the prettiest steampunk-y thing I've ever seen) and was going back on tour. And interestingly enough, the time on the clock on the album cover, plus the album title, makes me wonder if he snuck his birth time in there. Would make him a double Sadge in addition to the tons of Libra if it's in the morning, which seems more likely because then he'd have a 10th house Libra stellium and whopping career power.
But it seemed a little tentative somehow, what with the short tour booking...and yeah. Bummer. And oh look, retrograde Saturn going back over the end of the sign again and kicking his sun once again, and then starting all over again in June..ouch.
I was hoping he'd get all fixed up sooner than by the time Saturn leaves Libra in October, but...I guess not? Maybe the poor dude has to go through the whole period of time quiet before he can finally resurface for good. I hope he can finally effing do that sometime.
In other folks-with-Libra news, my aforementioned double Libra friend got in a whopping bus accident while on vacation in December and has been on medical leave for the winter duration. She seems mostly okay, all things considered, but then there's the joys of PTSD and finding a new therapist. So she's having not the best time either. Poor Libras. I want to start a "Save the Libras!" campaign...The other Libra people I know continue to be out of touch, distant, or in the same crap as ever.
Though the double Libra saw an astrologer recently and got whopping good predictions for her life having massive good change a year and a half from now. As in "right now you're in a dead period of time, but in 3 years you won't recognize your life." Lucky girl. I'd like to get some kind of prediction like that for myself, but I suspect if I ever got a full reading from a pro, mine would not be cheerful and rosy. Which is pretty much why I try to DIY it here.
So according to the Internets, the aforementioned John Mayer had surgery on his throat yesterday. Because I wondered about the whole transit thing, I looked up the chart transits. Yesterday, transiting Saturn was conjunct his natal Mercury at 20 degrees Libra, with the sun coming up right after that. Transiting Mercury is also exactly conjunct his natal Uranus in Scorpio at 10 degrees. Since Mercury rules speech and Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, I get the sense that it's a double whopping silencing there with all of that. And sure enough, the dude has to stay silent for a least a month or more. The lesson continues.
You'd think that with Taurus ruling the throat and whatnot, that might be more prominent in the chart, but Jupiter in Taurus isn't really setting anything major off here, so...I guess not. I'm not an expert in medical astrology, though this link points out that Libra might have throat issues as well. I dunno, I feel like Mercury is the significant point here anyway.
On a related note (I think I was thinking of this link last time and then was too lazy to dig it up), this post kind of reminds me of this situation. I think I have to agree with this post that it's hell to be a modern-day Libra. Maybe we need to start a "Save the Libras!" movement or something, hah.
Thinking of the Libras folks in my life right now, my double Libra friend with a birthday the day after his is traveling the world right now, so Saturn's hitting her sun in the first house. I wonder how she's doing. Another friend seems to have done a disappearing act, but since she's pretty intermittent on contact, I guess that's not surprising. And my Libra rising friend is about to have Saturn hitting her ascendant...and she seems to have an impending marital showdown likely to go on this weekend for her Libra kid's birthday. HOO BOY. Looking at her chart, she's also got Pluto conjunct her natal Jupiter/Venus conjunction, transiting Neptune and Chiron conjunct her natal Chiron, and transiting moon and Mars approaching her natal Uranus. I'm going to be rooting for some transformational (if painful) moment that frees her from the situation to happen. Soon. Please.
While I'm at it, here's a few links on Saturn transits for those of you with these issues going on right now:
(I'm going to get in trouble eventually for posting this one, but what the hell.)
If you want to look at the effects of Saturn in Libra, you should perhaps check out the chart of someone with a lot of it. For example, John Mayer, a dude known for his mouth in uh...more ways than one. He basically pissed off the entire Internet in various ways through 2009-10-ish or so. And then... well, I give the dude a lot of credit for (a) realizing he made an ass of himself, (b) apologizing, a lot, and then (c) shutting his stupid mouth--so to speak. Dude has pretty much disappeared for the most part since his last concert tour ended, quitting Twitter, rarely blogging on his actual writing blog, deleting posts after he makes them--though in the age of Tumblr reblogging, I kind of don't see the point of that bit when it lives on anyway. At any rate, he isn't giving anyone any fuel to put on the fire these days. He's been just quietly working on an album, and adding on to Tony Bennett's. To which I say, good for him. Lord knows I miss his online snark (frankly, he and YourAuntDiane are the only Twitter accounts I ever found consistently funny, and that's speaking as a Twitter-hater), but I think given the massive shitstorm that went on, he needed to go into seclusion to get people to calm the hell down. Probably a good idea to go sort out his shit, too.
Do you guys realize how rare it is for someone to make a major fuckup and then do their best to correct their behavior? Look at Chris Brown, for example, who really isn't doing that at all. Speaking of, I have been reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies today. Yes, that sounds like it's wandering off topic, but it reminded me of a thought I've always had about P&P (-Z): the reason that chicks are sooooooo obsessed with Mr. Darcy is that he's a guy who comes off as an ass, then APOLOGIZES for it, then makes amends.* For all of those girls who like the Reformed Rakes, or Bad Guys Gone Good For The Love Of A Girl, Mr. Darcy is the Regency version of that. And as all ladies will learn outside of books, finding a dude who will apologize and improve is really rare. Well, there you go: here's one in real life.
What does this have to do with astrology? Well, the dude has a lot of planets in Libra from about 15 degrees (Pluto/NN, Sun, Mercury) on, and if Saturn is going along conjunct all of those in turn, giving them all a kick... well, let's just say that astrologically in general, Libras are not having a fun time right now. My Libra rising friends are all having relationship drama in one way or another and that's fun times. It's probably better to be single right now than be dealing with someone else's lack of maturity.
Saturn transiting through anywhere where you're emphasized is a big kick in the pants to grow up, and I think John is doing that. Saturn transits may make you more noticed or make you want to hide, so he's gone from one extreme to the other. Ironically (and well, the reason why I'm posting this) is that he posted online today that he's got a granuloma and thus has to not do any singing engagements and postpone the album production. So at this point the silence is being chosen for him... and checking the astrology, that's just as Saturn is hitting the Pluto/NN conjunction. Hmmmm, might be a while before the album is finished there. Saturn goes out of Libra in late October 2012**, so maybe late summer/fall then? I will hope for sooner, but given where Mercury is, it might take awhile.
I don't know what his birth time is, but this makes me wonder if Libra is his third house or something. Would make sense at this point, wouldn't it?
* SPOILER: In P&P&Z, he actually uh... permanently paralyzes Wickham in a massive beating. Okay, so that's not the usual type of amends....
** Then Saturn starts kicking my ascendant... and this should start right after I plan on moving. Fun times, y'all.
So somebody I know had a full moon baby yesterday. I've been saying all along, "man, this kid is going to have an interesting life." (And probably not in the good way, more like the child is going to be a massive hardass. I can only hope he finds a way to use it for good rather than evil.) Naturally when I found out the birth time I had to do a chart.
...Yeah. I kind of feel sorry for the parents here. I suspect this kid is going to be a walking drama bomb, in charge of everyone, at BEST. Nervewracking.
