Blood Rites
Okay, so this review might not make much sense to most people, since it's the sixth book in a series.
But it's the sixth book in a REALLY GOOD series, which I'd recommend, and this book I think is the best he's done so far. Jim does magic and magical beings in ways nobody else even thinks of, and reading this book was like crack.
Harry Dresden is a beleagured, abused, chilvalrous, smartassed, constantly-under-stress wizard working in Chicago. He's on most of the magical community's shit list, and as usual, things are getting rapidly complicated. Between his major enemy of the Black Court of vampires attacking him again and his sorta-friend Thomas from the White Court of vampires asking him to investigate an entropy curse attacking all of the women around a friend of his, things are already pretty dicey. Naturally, it gets worse from there. But hey, he's got a cute puppy!
This is the most revelatory of the books, and it's pretty awesome. For those wondering what exactly was up with Harry's dead mother, and have been wondering for books what was hinted about Harry not being the only living relative... in this book, you find out. Woo hoo!
There's some sad moments in the end, but I'm looking forward to seeing how things go along from here after the plot developments in this book.
