This is an interesting chaotic novel.
As a teenager, Samson Hunts Alone had a run-in with the law that forced him to change his name, drop his Native American culture, and flee everyone he ever knew. Twenty years later, he's a salesman named Samuel Hunter, and life is comfortable.
Until his spirit guide, the trickster known as Coyote, decides to come back into his life. Within 24 hours Sam's obsessed with a cute girl named Calliope, lost his job, and lost his apartment. Almost as quickly, he gets the latter two back, but ends up on a roller-coaster ride that involves keeping up with Coyote, rediscovering his Crow heritage, and chasing after Calliope's missing baby.
It's all about tricks and chaos, and is an enjoyable read. The denouement is wrapped up a bit quickly and obscurely for my tastes, but it almost works anyway.
So...three and a half stars. Short and quick, but fun.
