Stupid freaking diamonds!

That whole salary thing is INSANE.

"I can see it now. People all over the county heard that radio show where those guys were talking and are now telling their girfriends that they can't go out to eat or go to the movies or afford groceries, otherwise they'll never be able to be afford the ring that they're "supposed to" buy. Aargh.

What is sad is how much people really buy into this. I have friends who talk all the time about the size of the diamond and how so-and-so got such a big/small ring, wasn't that great/sucky. Or how about a few months ago when I sat around and listened to three of my coworkers discuss how they would never marry someone who couldn't afford (or just would give) a big ring."
