Waiting in the wings (FBOFW)
"He compounds his sin by punnily stating he'll be there if she should need someone who might actually leave the Holy City of Milboring. Sure, she smiles politely but secretly wishes he'd end up like the Nazis in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". That's her story and she's sticking to it. She doesn't want him to pine away for her because it gives her a sick thrill to have men dangling on the hook. That wouldn't be nice and she's always nice. Unless you're a cheater or a picky-face, that is."
- "I think maybe it's Liz who's becoming the new Anthony. She's reminding me of the Anthony of December 2001, newly engaged, yet keeping options open with someone else. Otherwise, why is Liz not retorting, "Anthony's the right guy, so you'd better move on!"
- "Shoot, she couldn't even spin around the room and yell "If this is love, I'm loving it!" with Granthony."
- "The nerve of that Warren. How dare he pine after someone like that?
Oh wait, Granthony did the same thing. nvm." - "and Lynn just had to add in the thing about waiting for Liz, didn't she?"
- "I bet she's been waiting to use "waiting in the wings" for years with the flyboy."
- "Warren and Liz are no Bogart and Bergman."
- "Of all the cinnamon-bun counters in all the car dealerships in the world, why did she have to walk into mine?" Heh heh."
- "We'll always have Saskatoon!"
- "Why is marriage of such importance in the Foobiverse if no one's supposed to respect it?"
- "marriage is important only if its Patterson approved...otherwise its wrong and needs to be broken up if it dares to fall outside Patterson blessings..."
- "But it's Lizthony that's not being respected, and that is Patterson approved."
- "Judging by recent CT entries, even the Kool-Aid Nation are seeing that this is all wrong. No passion between Liz and Anthony, Liz's body language around Warren, Warren's promise to WAAAAAAAIT!!"
- "This wedding is another example of Lynn
Johnston working through her divorce and what appears more and more to
be the majour bone of contention between her and Rod Johnston, i.e.
when she agreed to live in Lynn Lake with the flying dentist when they
were married, and then forced him to move to Corbeil.
Warren Blackwood represents the flying Rod Johnston, who has to fly. Elizabeth represents Lynn Johnston , who has to have a stable home environment near places to shop. The affection Liz shows to Warren and the lack of "love" between Liz and Anthony represents Lynn Johnston's current belief about marriage: It is better to marry a man you don't love, who does not want to move from where you want to live, than to marry a man you do love, who wants to live some place else you don't want to live."
