The judge, happily, rules in the right direction.*
This kind of thing is why I've never bothered to change my first name. I've considered going by my middle name because my first name is more common than dirt, except that someone else went by said middle before I did and I just don't think it would take. And the relatives call me the "ie" version as well, but they're not going to stop doing that. I find it less offensive than this chick does, so I let it go, but also, I doubt they'd stop if I did ask because we're all stuck in the name patterns by now.**
* "you have to use an asterick if you're calling her that name to be obonoxious. Hah.
** My mom insisted that I call both my aunts by diminutive "ie" names. They don't like it, which I did not find out for a very long-ass time. At this point, I am stuck in that pattern, and eh, it's equal retaliation.
