I'm finding various online "design your own figure"-type sites and trying to design figures that look as close to me as possible for a self-portrait collage project. This is surprisingly tricky when one (a) wears glasses, which aren't always offered, and (b) normally has blonde/brown hair and currently dyes it vaguely-reddish/blonde. What hair color to pick?
Followup to this. Pieces still haven't been taken out of the kiln as of yesterday. I HOPE TO EFFING GOD THEY ARE OUT TODAY OR I WILL HAVE A MELTDOWN.
Thirteen people. And "oh, btw, bring an extra gift while you're at it!" I only have eleven clay thingies around the house on me. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. It will not look good if I have 11 things and "oh, uh, someone want some candy?"
Edited to add: THEY ARE READY THANK GAWD, I NOT ONLY HAVE ENOUGH, I HAVE EXTRAS!!!
Though annoyingly, I apparently did NOT have my camera in my bag today. Grrr. May have to go home before the gifting to get it.
When I signed up for a show, it was in spring 2011. Now it's been moved up to...summer 2010.
HOLY SHIT THAT'S A YEAR AND A HALF AWAY HOLY CRAP SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT THIS NOW?!
I think I am going to do a "chaos and change" theme, have a Persephone section, have a Tower/tarot section...that sort of thing. Oh, and Eris. Need to throw in some Eris.
I also need to work on something yarny for it, don't you think? Maybe something from all my areas of expertise. I've got glasswork, jewelry, and ceramics with a pomegranate theme, and some glass-ish stuff in Tower stuff, I think...
Four days into signups, nobody is signed up for my class. Gee, I guess it wasn't as much of a hit as people thought.
That's a bummer, but on the other hand, it's not that big of a deal to me if it runs either. It gives me a free weekend, and technically it's not like I can get paid for it anyway.
The classes I am signed up for this quarter have nobody but me in them.
That's not a good sign at all.
Okay, I got an idea...make my own "motley" yarn. Spin with any ol' random colors I get ahold of, mix them together at random. Then it doesn't matter if it doesn't match, and I can make as much as I want!
Anyhoo, a group I am in (which as you may have guessed, is of the hippie persuasion) is throwing the Yule party very damn late, i.e. next Wednesday. I am somewhat happy about the timing now because due to glaze screwups, I have had to redo all those damn pendants and since I finished my own glazing, there MIGHT be hope of them being put into the kiln by next Wednesday. (Sadly, this is not under my control, kiln firing takes most of a week, I don't know if/when anything will be put in to be glazed...but I have better odds of them getting in before Wednesday than I did before the weekend. I did ask to get them in today, so we'll see.)
Either way, I will probably bring most of this stuff because the pendants most likely still won't be done, and say, "Hey, pick out what you like."
I would like to point out when I made the pendants the first time I made something like 15-16 of them. Now, there's something like thirteen people associated with the group at this point, but 3-4 of them or so have pretty much disappeared for several seasons now. I debated making Enough For Everyone a second time, but I was running low on time in the first place when I had to redo all that clay and thought, "Eh, those people probably won't show up for the party anyway."
Hah hah hah hah, NO, EVERYONE IS NOW COMING. EVERYONE. EVERYONE. I don't have enough pendants any more, period. I don't think I have enough non-pendant ceramic stuff exactly either. And ceramics are NOT something you can do with any kind of speed.
