The crowd waiting, and watching the magic show. Most of Davis out tonight, eh?
And here's the magician.
Check this MASSIVE-ass inflatable screen they showed HP3: the movie on. Awesome.
I do have to say it was very cool to be lying around in the road watching a movie.
Here's the start of The Line, around 11:30ish.
I got cozy in a seat at the bistro next door because I was #262 and it was gonna take awhile.
And the line goes on. This is #'s 1-50.
And the line goes around the corner.
5...4...3...2...1....HAPPY NEW YEAR! Er... happy new book, that is.
I managed to get it JUST as the lights went on. Note the guy waving his arms about on the side.
Letting the books out of their cages.
I love it when I see someone walking around reading immediately.
Though even I don't do that. At least, not in the dark with a hardback book, on the way home ALSO through the dark.
Look, there's Kirsten Dunst and she works at this bookstore!
But seriously, this girl close up looked a LOT like her. Except obviously, KD wouldn't be caught dead in this town.
Back of the line.
At 12:15, they said, "Oh, what the hell, EVERYONE get in line!"
So, there I am. In the line. Er, taking the pic, not IN it.
Another happy costumed reader.
Another shot of the line, this time after I'm out of it.
As it finally peters out...
And it's over!
And finally, I found kids (the other one I couldn't get in a shot) reading in the street on the way home.
These kids today, doing drugs...er, reading books out on the street corners!
