By Nick Offerman and Megan Mullaly.
This is an adorable dually-narrated story (with amusing photos) of how these two got together. It is a delight. The two met in 2000 when they were doing the same play. While Megan did not immediately become attracted to Nick or at least he wasn't on her theater fling radar, she liked him when she met him and he thought she was awesome. They started sparking and cracking each other up. While Megan did realize that Nick was a good guy and not her usual type, she wanted to proceed with extreme caution and kept the progression of their romance slow (something this book might argue with). Obviously that worked out though, and Nick's advice to anyone wanting to meet someone is to join the theater rather than doing dating events.
Beyond that, the two discuss their various upbringings (his wholesome and happy, hers...Fellini) and how they got into performing, past relationships, religion, fashion, nookie, doing puzzles etc.
I especially cracked up when they covered the age difference, since Megan is twelve years older than Nick. While they don't feel any particular cultural gap, she said that once she was over 30 she couldn't get anyone her age or older, and when she met Nick she assumed he was probably only a few years behind her. "I said, "Wait, how old are you?" And he said, "Twenty-nine" and I said these two words: "You. Motherfucker." And I almost crashed my car into a tree. i was really mad about it." However, since people seem to think they look around the same age or that Nick looks older, this isn't really fazing others either.
Anyway, this is really cute and sweet and like many others, I want to hang out with them now. I especially want them to do their "Summer of 69" show in my area, thanks. Four stars.
