Previous book here.
In this book, Gemma's on the search for Milo, who's threatening to do, well, what the title says. When that finally gets going, holy cow.
I was not as into this book, but frankly it could just be me because I have winter funk from hell and don't seem to be up to reading/writing much? The plot's pretty simple. Personal dramas abound. The liladorn and Violet the strix are adorable as heck and I love them best of all. Gemma and Leo are doing pretty well except for family drama, obviously.
I did really like Gemma having a very hard to deal with moment within the middle of the book--let's just say it's a good thing it's a world of magic, because holy cow, was that hardcore. And I liked how the "gargoyle queen" thing finally came about and was revealed.
Honestly, I don't know. I feel like this book/review deserve better, but my brain isn't really in it. It was pretty good, albeit I wasn't as into it as I was the last two and I was more into it in sections than the whole thing this time. It really could just be me here. Please don't take it personally. Things resolve well, I'm curious to see if another trilogy or book happens--from Maeven's POV would be my guess?
Three and a half stars.
