Previous book here. Since this spoils the end of the last book, it's below the spoiler cut. 4.5 stars again, though! Marvelous finish to this duology.

At the end of the book, we found out how the god Dacre recruits soldiers: he heals the dying ones...MOSTLY...and traps them to him. Which is what he does with Roman, except he makes him be his personal mouthpiece. Roman's memory is wiped originally in the partial healing, but it does come back. Also, he starts getting letters from a mysterious "E" that he feels somehow fond of without knowing why...
Back in Oath, Iris, without her original magic typewriter, steals the third one from the museum so she can write to Roman. He in turn lets her know where the next attack is going to be, and there's daring escaping going on. Attie and Iris acquire a driver, a speedy guy named Tobias (clearly a love interest for Attie, though they don't get much play), and he's awesome.
We get to know Dacre--and to some degree, Enva, who's around but limited in what she can do. Dacre thinks he's a good guy, and you get that he's hurt that his wife ran off. On the other hand, you find out he trapped her, like he traps everyone, and he's a freaking asshole. This guy's gotta go, but how's that going to happen? I admit I was pretty much like "fuck both these people" for most of the duology, but Dacre's just...really bad, yikes. By the time he starts ranting that gods don't care about humans except for what they do for the gods, GRRRRR.
Roman and Iris are mostly separated for plot reasons, but they mostly have their letters, and their yearning for each other is as romantic as ever, so I deeply enjoyed that. The book resolves happily, yay. Really loved this duology very much.
