What to make next?

I'm almost done with Stargazer (got the PDF for it, yay), and I finished off various scarves and superhero wear, so now what to make?

Possibilities for the summer:

• Hot Tamale- I've got the yarn for it, but I'm not terribly good at complicated intarsia, so if I give this a go it may drive me up the nearest wall. I hope the gauge swatching goes well, and that the yarns match enough on that, or I may go mad.
• Saturday In The Park Dress- it would take me the entire summer to do a dress though.
• Kiltie- I keep putting this skirt off somehow.
• Prairie Kimono- uses bulky yarn though, might be kinda hot right now
• Knitted Heart
• Herringbone Skirt
• Flaming Tote

Really, I should probably just make some tank tops the way I usually do all summer. Those are fast to do.

• Askew
• The tank pattern I bought last year and frogged
• ANGST

More fire

Regarding this post, I managed to get some fire yarn! Some orange, some red, some yellow, and some red/yellow/orange Red Heart yarn. Yay!

I may just end up making Hot Tamale for my next project, since it's the closest to "ring of fire" that I've got for a pattern around here, and I'm kind of stumped as to what to make up with that symbolism (other than a poncho, but NO).

In other news, I am about six inches away from finishing off Stargazer, lost the instructions...then found out that the pattern is no longer free. WTF?* On Ravelry she says if you send her a pic of your WIP she'll send you a PDF for free...which is fair. I'm just annoyed to have to take that much effort (I Photoshop pretty rarely because it takes me hours and crashes the computer, so that's why all my pics go up in bulk) to find out just how to sew it up.

* as it turns out, this is because MagKnits has now shut down and deleted all of their patterns. Craziness. Did not know this.

Ring of fire pendants

Followup from here. It is interesting to see how they come out in fusing- less pretty oranges, sadly. The triangle one is my "ring of fire" one in particular.

Superhero costume elements

Here's the crown and goggles (mentioned here). I...don't know if these will stay in the costume or not. They may just look too silly.

And here's the corset belt I ended up making (from Stitch N' Bitch: The Happy Hooker), which I basically did because I don't think I'll have the time to make a utility belt beforehand (much less get to the fabric store). It looks okay, I guess.

The cape is Cold Shoulders, from the same book. I like how it came out. It should work well in hot weather.

Here's the gloves mentioned previously. Putting the lacing in is hard...putting them on at all is harder! Somehow I had no idea that would be so tricky to do.

But I did them so I could insert my biggest knitting needles into the laces as weapons!

Final weeks of painting class

The one on the left is okay, less of a stinker than the mugs. Wish I'd left more room and time for the flowers at the end. The shell came out pretty good.

I love the flowers on the right. So pretty. I think that one's my best and favorite. It's good to end on a high note.

And it burns, burns, burns...

...the ring of fire.

Seriously, this has inspired me: I think I need to work on fire-related projects. Use fire as a motif, if you will.

(Uh, in between that and figuring out a costume, anyway...sheesh, I keep looking for ways to cram something in.)

Trying to think of what to do, however, is a bit stumping. When it comes to yarn, I've got Flaming Tote and Hot Tamale patterns...but not a whole lot of red yarn left, and no hope of making it to a yarn store at the moment. Which is irritating. When it comes to glasswork, I have to find some weekend time where there isn't a class going on. Not sure what to do.

Superhero in progress

Okay, so I'm pondering the superhero costume. First, I asked on Craftster. I wonder where the hell my glue gun is, and I know diddly about making stuff out of duct tape (wish someone would offer a class in that), but "utility cape" would be cool. I suspect it would have hanging issues, though. I like the needle roll gauntlet, or at least sticking needles into a gauntlet.

It might be easiest to be a Yarn Girl rather than a general Craft Girl. (a) people would kind of expect that of me, and (b) someone else might do a general Craft Person, and (c) it keeps things a bit simpler on the costume front. I will definitely have to NOT work on it at the CC though.

Worst comes to worst, I have the following regular items around my house that could work in a costume:

• long boots
• those little skirts like the girly superheroes wear
• leotard-type tops
• one cheap cape in the event that I don't come up with anything better.

Beyond that, I decided to work on a few implements today.

1. Some kind of mask that can be worn with glasses. I actually came up with a rudimentary set of tie-on goggles in crochet. I am undecided as to whether or not to try to make them bigger, considering...
2. I also made a Wonder Woman crown today. Have not decided on what sort of logo to put on it. Yarn ball?
3. Am currently attempting lace-up gauntlets again. We'll see how that goes.
