The good news is that I finally finished the ruffled skirt. I haven't put in the waist elastic yet, but here's how it looks otherwise:
This is actually a slightly misleading photo. The dark purple layer at the bottom isn't part of the skirt--it's the bloomers from the Minnie Mouse costume from a few years ago. But don't they work nicely with it? I didn't think they'd even fit under there, but they look adorable.
I decided after finishing the skirt to do a bit of a trial run for the Halloween costume. I love the skirt, but the rest of it....I don't know....
I really don't like how the green top came out at all. I think I'll donate it to auction this year. I don't want to wear it with this, even though the color matches better than the jacket.
As for the frock coat...I wish the color of it went with the skirt, given my limited amount of options to get thousands of yards of bulky yarn, oh well. But what I forgot is that it has a tail on that coat....which will mostly cover the big ol' tie-on bustle I want to make for the skirt.
Meanwhile, I still need some other kind of top that I need to produce in a month...and I bought a blouse for this outfit but lost it in my house somewhere.... and I want to make something corset-y or vest-y....in a month.
Oh, and decorate that hat I caved and bought at a Halloween store because making a hat was going terribly.
Perhaps I am a little insane.
