So I am not making any gifts for the relatives for Christmas so far (screw that, they're not into them), and the made gifts for friends are mostly done--I have an idea for another one that shouldn't take me too long. Which leaves me with free knit time in December, at least until I go off on vacation.
So I am pondering making a TACKY CHRISTMAS SWEATER!
If you know me IRL (or hell, if you've seen the photos on this website), you probably think that I am one of those tacky sweater people. Well, I used to be--I went through that phase big time in middle school and through some of high school (I think). But eventually, and by eventually I mean "I went off to college," I grew out of it, or at least got less into Christmas when I moved out of the house. It's kind of funny how those kinds of things became "tacky" and "ugly" in the last few years, though.
Anyhoo: even though it'd be way too late to deck the halls for the work holiday party and whatnot--I'm not that fast a crocheter-- I think it might be fun to try to make one of the darned things just for shits and giggles. I also saw this DIY Ugly Sweater Kit and while I liked the idea, they were basically patches you pinned on for $14. Come on, I can do cheap looking better than that!
While I've looked around for patterns along these lines on Ravelry, that hasn't really panned out. But this year I found a jackpot! Heck, it's even crocheted for faster speed! I think this is an excellent idea. Muahahahah. And look, there are instructions as to how to do other ones on the Internet....but that's for another post on the silly links blog.
