This is an example of working with negative space. I haven't grouted it yet (will on Tuesday), I'm really curious to see if it's going to come out well or crappily. Yes, it's blatantly inspired by this. I kept trying to think of a better example to try than a tree and was coming out blank, so what the hell. We'll see.
And this time I got the idea that I should try some sort of portrait. My students have done a few and they've come out awesome, but I'm working up the nerve. Also, who do I do a portrait of that won't freak if I bugger it up? (Me? I'll be less judgey....) Anyway, I decided to start small, with a portrait of an adorable corgi that I petsit for occasionally. (Which means I can't keep it because the owner will want it, but ah well.)
I think it's worked out spectacularly well so far :)
