Continued from here, here's the rest of the foods my friend requested. My mom got the flu for Christmas and our plans were canceled, so now I had all this free time to crochet.

Tea and cookies--I had to design a plate since the pattern didn't have one. That's a chocolate chip and a black and white cookie.

Yummy Crochet, part one

Got my friend this book for her birthday and am now making her foods from it. I actually got some done today. First, the BLT.

Donuts

So a friend of mine introduced me to the joys of Krispy Kreme Ugly Sweater Donuts.

I'm making her a bunch of crocheted food from the book Yummy Crochet for Christmas anyway, so... I decided to see if I could copy the donuts.

(Note: IRL the "dark green" donuts are really bright ol' lime green.)

That's a reindeer in sunglasses and a penguin.

 

 

Sea wreath

Much to my sadness, I am dismantling at least part of the undersea garden part of my show since all of that is way too large to keep around my not-that-big apartment. Which leads to the question of "what do I do with all of these coral things and sea creatures now?" 

Answer: since I had these leftover flower wreaths I was using as the base to hold up the sweaters... I put the coral bits and some sea creatures and fish into a wreath. I plan on gifting it to the friend who put some of her own pieces in the show as a thank you (and heck, maybe she wants to add in her own tentacles and whatnot to it). 

And uh...here is a picture I took with my face in the wreath, for no good reason.

I'm not so great at shawls

Today is the knitting gift swap party. Since this crowd loves its shawls, I attempted to make one. I tried to make this one LAST year and it didn't go well. It went slightly better this year.This (note: Ravelry link to pattern here, the rest aren't) is what it should look like, and this is what I came out with, because I was running out of yarn and could not get more, and the pattern doesn't specify exactly when to turn and how long these bits should go.

It looks ok on, at least, if not intuitive to put on.'

Edited to add: after two other folks said it was okay to gift, I gifted it, along with my backup coral scarf.

I think she liked them!

When the vests look better on someone else than on me....

Seriously, they look a lot cuter on these folks. :) 

Mandala Gnome yarn

So I really really really like this colorway.

I did another version of my Stomacher sweater in it and entered it in the county fair this year. And added button-on sleeves to it later.

Over the weekend, I found a mandala vest made in the same colorway (ooh, it's in the picture here!) and well, had to get it immediately. (Or more specifically, my friend bought me my Christmas present...super nice of her!) I knew that was mine when I saw it and the lady we got it from (the artist's mom) agreed. :) Should you want to see more of her work, here's her Etsy store. 

So yes, I wondered what it would look like if I combined the two together....

I finally got to learn how to make one of these yesterday!

After finding out a friend collects "weird menorahs," I was all "OH YEAH I GOTTA DO THIS." So this is tealights and a taper from the dollar store, has crochet hooks embedded into the front and a yarn ball on the end of each.
