I still can't (quite) see relatives at a holiday again...a second Easter like this, sigh. So therefore I did the Arne and Carlos knitalong of their knitted Easter eggs.
I now have an Easter tree up, because why not.
My thoughts on the making:
(a) There is a default "shape" pattern for all the eggs as to the increases and decreases, which I ended up giving up on after oh, halfway through egg 1. I ended up having to adjust where I did the increases/decreases based on the color changes on the yarn for each egg, and I didn't feel like they lined up with the right number of stitches after awhile. Maybe that's just me, though?
(b) They suggested doing duplicate stitch on a few (which is why one egg that is supposed to have a differently colored flower center doesn't), but man, I haaaaated how duplicate stitch looked in DK yarn. It just came out like shit no matter what I did, so I finally just did straight up 3-4 different colors in fair isle for the rest of the eggs.
(c) I recommend starting stuffing the eggs when you are down to 24 stitches on the needles, it's easier that way.
(d) I had a hard time keeping all the stitches on the DPN's tight on the decreases, which is pretty obvious because I really had to sew them all together after the eggs were done. Feh.
Anyway, it's done, and happy Easter (such as it is this year). Each individual egg goes below the spoiler cut, because there's 12.
