I thought this sounded like a fun thing to do, speaking of yarn bombing.

On a related note, while I was looking for spots to put the last two:

(a) I got a call from someone asking me to donate yarn bombs to another event in a few weeks.

(b) I went to an area that has an awesome yarn bomb and encountered the lady who did the garden there. She said friends of hers made it. 

I'm kind of obsessed with this Icelandic band

Both because I like the music, and they are clearly fun nerdy sorts, but also because of their sweaters with their faces on them. They used to sell the sweaters, but they are sold out. But you can still  make your own face on their website:

 

I kind of want to consider dressing up as someone in the band (with my own head, though, I suppose). Those heads on sweaters tempt me to design something. Which, as you know, I probably could. I haven't the faintest as yet as to what, if anything, will be going on at Halloween this year or if I want to bother knocking myself out for a costume or not, and god knows one of those sweaters would go great on Zoom.

 

However, the issues with this are that almost everyone won't know who I am referring to, and also I cannot for anything spell or pronounce the name of the band. 

 

Edited to add: okay, I'm gonna do a sweater with my head on it, regardless of whether or not I use it for Halloween. I have the face yarn around the house and I ordered more teal.

Head I just graphed out. I don't really know what hair color to do any more. I tend to think of myself as a blonde since most of the time I am one, but this year forcing me to go dye-free has been depressing. (Can't wait to someday get my hair done again...somewhere...) Probably gonna go blonde on this or at least some yarn color I have in the house. 

Yarn bombing a car

Have you noticed it's yarn bombing season lately? I keep seeing things all around for that topic. 

Anyway, this is the story of our biggest yarn bomb ever.

So we attended an event called "Spring Spark," a drive-through Burning Man-ish event in which people wore costumes and displayed their art cars, fire poi, etc. They encouraged dress-up and car decorating. My friend Dawn was quite inspired by this and volunteered her car for such. I volunteered a lot of my knitted/crocheted goods, including what remains from my sea project, some silly hats, my Christmas tree apron, etc., which Dawn sewed to blankets and tied to the car once we got to the event. Dawn also crocheted loopy fringe to hang off the car doors. Jenny contributed the tie-dyed mask for the front of the car and the Wonder Woman on the back.

I'm not sure how well this went

A friend of mine fell in love with a hat on Etsy and wanted me to make it for her for the play we're in (at one point we are playing famous suffragists from 1918 and are gonna go with cloche hats as a very quickie costume change). The hat sizes went from 20 to 22 inches and she said her head was 24.

I think I've managed to solve this problem by making the pattern for 22 inches, but doing it with a K hook rather than the J hook indicated. Sure enough, it came out 24 inches. However, I'm concerned that I did it wrong because even though my head's about 2 inches smaller, it seems....very large. Like obviously I can't even see with this one on my head for the photo! I offered to redo it for her if I got it wrong. She seems to think it'll be okay though... 

We shall see once she gets it, I suppose. I think I'm going to try to make my own hat and see if it comes out any better at a J hook gauge.

Two rainbow sweaters

A friend of mine loved the rainbow sweater, so I made her another one. Hers is on the right. 

Slightly smaller and since she's taller than me, the rainbow band is farther down.

Hopefully she likes it--I made it without meeting her in person, hah! 

Papercrafting again

I took another cardmaking class again, the first one I've done since February 2020.
