I'm not a person who makes socks or shawls, so I had no idea what to do with the various fancy novelty yarn I've gotten at Stitches (purple at the top and most of the edges a the bottom) or at the yarn shop (the middle dark purples, some of the edge at the bottom). Eventually I started collecting them and decided to make some kind of gradated dress. After issues with trying to design my own (grr), I finally found a pattern that let me make it from the top down until I ran out of yarn.
Meet the Abigail Fairy Dress, a dress that can be made for tiny children or big-boobed adults!
I did end up taking in the second section (between the purple top and the waist area by decreasing by...6 stitches, I think?...every few rows, or else it was kind of big. I ended up ripping it all out and redoing it at Christmas. That was a good idea, and the rest went easily.
The one thing I don't like is that I had to keep making the shoulders bigger and bigger to go around mine, so it kind of bunches up around the neck most of the time in a weird way. Oh well,, just kinda have to go with it, I think.
