I'm attempting to do both the Ravellenic Games and The Great Yarn Challenge AND BEING IN A MUSIICAL at once, which is only going so-so well. I missed the first week's challenge because I had whopping craft fail trying to figure it out and not a lot of time to figure out that mess, and heck if I know if I'll make week 3 (kinda in progress), but I did finally get in an entry for week 2, the babies-and-pets week. Obviously the closest thing I have to that are either my fake cat or Baby Yoda, and clearly there was a reason to go with the latter recently:
I did not write down a pattern, per se, to create over-the-clothes Beskar armor (that little coat does not come off and I had to make it up over that), but here's approximately how I made it up:
(a) Crocheted a chain to fit around the collar of the coat, about 65 stitches.
(b) Rows 1-2 were double crocheting in every other stitch to make a mesh look. It's NOT in the round because otherwise you can't put the coat on--I ended up just lacing up the back later with another crochet chain.
(c) Row 3, I did 2 dc's in every other stitch to make it wider at the shoulders.
(d) Rows 4-6 were straight up "dc in every other stitch" again.
(e) Row 7: I pinned together the approximate gap that went around the armhole (around 35 stitches), skipped those 35 stitches, and then crocheted straight from the back to the middle, then did the same for the other arm. Basically, that's how I made the sleeves.
(f) Rows 8-12: just dc'd in every other stitch again.
