I'm working on my mailing list for the week and am posting about pies and whatnot, and I also found this NYT article about making turkey hats. This reminded me of the year 2015 or so, when I decided to make my own turkey hat because my relatives were making me go to Turkey Trots, which I did not want to do because that involved waking up at 6 a.m. on a holiday. I figured the relatives wouldn't like this too much...
I look terrible in hats without brims, so I insisted on it having a brim. It also has a hole in the top for my ponytail for doing jock activities like a Turkey Trot.
Why yes, it looks even worse on my head!
Ironically, I never ended up wearing it. Thanks to a jackhammer going off around 4 a.m. that morning, we ended up sleeping through the alarm and not going to the Turkey Trot, and after that my mom relented on making me go to such things.
And yet, the terrible hat remains as a joke I've never executed in public.
